Organizing works.
Unions work.
Strikes work.
So, uh, if you see an orb in public, DO NOT PONDER IT, because it's going to steal your biometrics and give them to the worst people in silicon valley:

Switch to Firefox.
Edit: Google have now ditched WEI, but this still shows why it's important to have competition in the browser space.
honestly it really sucks from the UI perspective that defederation is completely silent from the user's perspective. you just suddenly aren't following people/lose followers, and trying to follow someone from there mysteriously fails with no explanation
As a blind Mastodonian who is made happy by alt text every day, I'd like to request anyone who feels inclined or able, to post and describe insects. I've really enjoyed the occasional alt text describing flying and crawling things.
kojima should make a barbie game
i totally missed this news from neighboring Golden Valley, #Minnesota — the racist police abolishing themselves.

The reason Mastodon is better than Twitter is everybody who is funny on Twitter is doing it to build a brand and socially climb and everybody who is funny on Mastodon is doing it because they are deeply mentally ill
"A developed country is not a place where the poor have cars. It's where the rich use public transportation."
While we're on the subject of Aliens, one of my favorites.
The trend of dressing up for Barbie is fascinating because it seems like a lot of cis women don’t have many opportunities to goof around with gender for fun
“As a rule of thumb, though, good managers don’t attempt to cause growth by force. They take individual experience as both motivation and input, then shape healthy experiences by exerting force on the environment. Let me repeat: good managers usually frame their work as being most on structures, not directly on people.”

Hi, I'm an indie dev working on So to Speak, a puzzle game where YOU figure out what Japanese words mean, instead of memorizing them ⛩️

this may be a silly little thing, but it shows how using a social media site for 16 years affects muscle memory: i still hit the star instead of the ribbon to bookmark a toot.
back on #twitter one of my followers said they have a hard time relating to the ui; while another said they had suburban (and by that i mean white) gated community anxiety when looking at the fediverse.
and this is why the corporatocracy went all in on social media: they know they can affect us as a #neural level
i think a lot about how apparently, someone visiting pink floyd's studio in the mid-70s noticed they had several minimoogs set up with gaffer tape all over them, because when they got a sound they liked, they'd put the tape over the knobs so the settings wouldn't get changed, and invoice the record label for another fresh minimoog. i think this is how you're actually supposed to manage python software installations, just buy a new computer every time you finally get the correct packages set up
