Thanks to these figurines we know what people waiting for the bus in 2600 BCE looked like
“The reason most public transportation is seen as ‘losing’ money is precisely because it charges for trips. If you don't charge fares, suddenly it can't ‘lose’ money. It just costs money, the same as the roads.”
This random comment has given me my new favourite argument for removing fares from public transit.
Watching the scramble to figure out if LK-99 is an Actual Thing™ is fun, but I'm hearing comments like "If it's real it'll mean high-speed trains everywhere!"
My dude, we could ALREADY have high-speed trains everywhere. The resistance in the wires isn't the thing that's blocking it from happening.

I took my 8-year-old to the office on Take Your Child to Work Day. As we were walking around, she starting crying & getting very cranky, so I asked her what was wrong. As my coworkers gathered round, she sobbed, “Father, they are stealing your surplus value”
Stockholm Dyke March was wonderful today
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords as a basis for government seems like a pretty good option right now.

Been working on this little car game as a way to learn #godotengine - finally got it steering nicely without rolling over (turns out anti-roll bars exist for a reason) and added handbrake turns.
Aiming for an extremely arcadey driving model. #gamedev #cargame

That's me quoting me, but the opening of the Britannica article is similar:
"state monopoly on violence, in political science and sociology, the concept that the state alone has the right to use or authorize the use of physical force. It is widely regarded as a defining characteristic of the modern state."

Oh hey! A little #ProjectWeirdLittleGuy update for #ScreenshotSaturday! When you're talking to NPCs it now generates a little snapshot portrait of them to display in the UI along with any stats I want to add. #GodotEngine
Making games is hard. I give up. No, wait, my code is working now. Never mind.
Honestly most worlds don't have large moons like Earth probably. Your fantasy world shouldn't have a bunch of moons, it should have none. No tides, no months, seasonal axis spinning wildly without a stabilizing body.
