When you look up an item on a grid, given a numerical index eg(X,Y), do you search horizontally for the correct column before finding the row, or vertically to find the right row and then horizontally for the correct column?

@ash Search horizontally first, then go vertically, then go horizontally twice more to confirm I'm actually on the right one, and probably confirm vertically once more.
