@PhoebeWallerPalladino@monads.online Whenever I've been in charge of community spaces I've made a point of not having a set of explicit rules, but rather a set of guidelines and values and the warning that being seen as compromising those guidelines and values in the eyes of the moderation team would be what gets you banned, not whether or not you break the letter of some rule. The reason I have taken this approach is simple: Fascists abuse rule systems. They will ignore the spirit of any rule that doesn't suit them but use the letter of the law to escape punishment for bad behaviour and bad faith behaviour and also to persecute those who are in your space in good faith.
Remember that the modern conservative movement is centred on the idea that the law should protect but not bind the in-group and bind but not protect the out-group.
The hypocrisy is the point. They can't be trusted. Trust yourself, your gut, and your humanity.

thoughts on racism, D&D, and words
thoughts on racism, D&D, and words
So, we're hearing that D&D plans to abandon the word "race" in favor of the word "species". Haven't read the post but one exists.
What makes us less than optimistic about the change is that race is already a fictional form of species. Race says, "Y'know these divisions we've been making between kinds of plants and kinds of animals? We're making those between kinds of people."
So, are the D&D writers planning to have default lore for each species, as if culture comes from heredity and not community? Are they planning to have humans and orcs getting busy and producing half-orcs? Is "half-orc" assumed to mean "other half human", because humans are the white default? Do they know what racial stereotypes underlie the worldbuilding of their species, and do they have a plan to address that? Are different species inherently cursed to different theological fates?
Racism isn't a word, it's a worldview - are they cutting that?
I hope so. Not optimistic.

A full "block" of a level. Each level is divided into a string of blocks or stages, and each block has its own default scroll rules.
This one scrolls freely. Certain blocks of collision change the Y pan proportions to favour "down", to show the next block to jump to.
This would have less utility in free exploration games, because it's best used for clear-cut guiding situations. This game mostly has forward direction with a few forks.
One of the most ridiculous results of medically transitioning and thus feeling more comfortable in my body is not only do I feel comfortable dancing now, but I also feel way more ready to throw hands if the situation calls for it, even though my actual physical capability is way less because of loss of muscle mass.

Queer acceptance/rejection. Cultural sexualisation of children.
Hypothesis: Western society prefers to celebrate non-binary and gender non-conforming bodies that exhibit less secondary sex characteristics such as breasts or facial hair and tends to ignore or be disgusted by bodies that express more of these traits because we live in a paedophilic culture that sexualizes young girls.

Excellent post from @timbray on Mastodonia's dislike of algorithms
"So let’s stop saying “No algorithms!” because that’s just wrong, and figure out how to get nice algorithms built, ones that primarily are there to serve humanity’s best interests."

I just had a realisation about #Autism diagnostic criteria. I suspect this applies to other #disabilities too.
It's largely a collection of the reasons others don't like us.
That's why in many cases if a medical practitioner sees things about you they do like, they withhold diagnosis. For example, if they perceive you as attractive, intelligent, funny, approachable, i.e. to them, likeable.
It's straight #ableism : "You can't be disabled, because I like you, and I don't like disabled people."
