Brainstorming Engine

The Brainstorming Engine is a system for collaborative idea experimentation. It deals with strings as it’s dataset and is primarily used by groups trying to come up with names of things like bands, guilds or websites.

The current Brainstorming Engine is a rewrite of a php script I wrote a few years ago and subsequently lost called “guild name votey”. The new version uses a json flatfile for datastorage and bootstrap and jquery to make the interface much prettier.

The brainstorming engine can be seen at work here:

The system takes words from a wordlist and compiles them together to make different combinations and phrases. Users vote on phrases they like and don’t like. Phrases that are liked are then presented to other users to see if they like them. Eventually a wordcloud is generated showing the most popular phrases largest with the lesser one shown much smaller.
